Domain Registration General

What is domain forwarding and how do I redirect one domain to another?

Domain forwarding (also called domain redirect) automatically sends visitors who type one domain to another domain. Uses: redirect old domain to new brand name, redirect www.yourdomain.com to yourdomain.com (or vice versa), redirect multiple domain variations (.net, .org) to your main .com. Types of redirects: 301 (Permanent Redirect) — tells browsers and search engines to permanently update to the new URL; passes SEO link equity. Use for permanent changes. 302 (Temporary Redirect) — browser redirects but search engines keep the old URL indexed. Use for temporary situations only. Set up in Connect Quest domain management: Domain > Forwarding > Add Redirect. For 301 redirects with path preservation: use .htaccess RewriteRule instead. Important: always use 301 for permanent domain changes to transfer SEO value from old domain to new. Incorrectly using 302 for permanent moves loses SEO equity.
