Email Hosting General

What is IMAP vs POP3 and which should I use for business email?

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) synchronizes your email across all devices — read a message on your phone, it shows as read on your laptop and webmail. Deleted messages disappear everywhere. This is the modern standard for multi-device email access. POP3 (Post Office Protocol) downloads emails to one device and (by default) deletes them from the server. Once downloaded, emails only exist on that device. POP3 is obsolete for most users unless you have strict storage limits or want offline-only access. Always use IMAP for business email. Configure in Outlook: account type = IMAP, incoming server mail.yourdomain.com port 993 SSL, outgoing server mail.yourdomain.com port 587 STARTTLS. Configure in iPhone: Settings > Mail > Add Account > Other > IMAP. Connect Quest email hosting supports both IMAP and POP3. All IMAP connections use TLS encryption.
